The great advantage of working in the IT industry is that you don’t have to be in your office to do programming.
I am currently listening to “The 4 hour work week” by Tim Ferris. This books gives you idea on how to work just 4 hours, travel all around the world and live the life. Even if you are a salaried person, this book has ideas for you.
The idea for salaried person is to persuade his superiors (different ways are given in the book) to let them work remotely. This kind of thing happens in big companies like Infosys but I’m sure you can do that in smaller companies as well.
This leaves you with lots of time to focus on other aspects of your life and travel. Now you may be somebody who doesn’t have a life – this gives you a chance to create one. Get out of the drudgery and look into more interests.
IT people are specially suited for it as apart from mingling with co-workers, everything else can be taken care of remotely – like interacting with clients and on teams. Also you save lots of time by not attending to office meetings and such time-wasters.
